By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte

Two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn is in talks for "Fair Game," the film being made about the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson. Naomi Watts is starring for director Doug Liman while William Pohlad's River Road financing. Penn is negotiating to play Ambassador Joseph Wilson, although no deal has closed, reports Variety.

Joseph Wilson watched his wife's CIA status become compromised after he wrote op-ed columns that accused the Bush Administration of manipulating intelligence about weapons of mass destruction.

Before landing at River Road, the project had been put in turnaround by Warner Bros. It's based on Plame Wilsons memoir which takes its title from Karl Roves phrase about the legitimacy of blowing her professional camouflage.

After leaving the CIA in 2005, Plame Wilson filed a civil suit against Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Cheney's ex-chief of staff, "Scooter" Libby.

Rove and Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage admitted they leaked her agency status to journalists, while Libby was convicted of lying to a federal grand jury about his role in compromising her covert status.
