Ford wakes up to 'Morning Glory' (THR, VAR, MTV)

By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte

Harrison Ford will star in “Morning Glory,” a Paramount comedy set in the world of a morning talk show. Rachel McAdams is in final negotiations to join the cast as well, report the trades today. Roger Michell is attached to direct with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk producing. Ford recently hinted at the project during a discussion with MTV.

Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the script about a grizzled old-school anchor who quits in disgust with the gossip-heavy direction of the evening newscast. He is then recruited by a hot up-and-coming producer to help revive a morning talk show, only to be paired with his rival, explains The Hollywood Reporter.

Ford’s last starring comedy role was in 1995’s “Sabrina” remake. Prior to that, he won praise for his turn in 1988's Oscar nominated “Working Girl.”

The filmmakers had been discussing the producer role with Reese Witherspoon, but McAdams is now in line to play the part, notes THR. The rival anchor will be cast shortly.
