Black back with 'Panda' writers (THR)

By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte

Jack Black is reuniting with "Kung Fu Panda" writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger for a sort of comedic “Bourne Identity,” says The Hollywood Reporter. The live-action project is at Universal and will be produced by Black with his Electric Dynamite partner Ben Cooley.

The story sees Black as an American who finds himself washed up the shores of Cuba with no idea of who he is and how he got there. He comes to the conclusion that he must be a superspy, though in reality he is far from one, explains THR.

Universal picked up the project as a pitch in a seven-figure deal.

Aibel and Berger worked with Black for months in the recording sessions for "Panda," which became one of the biggest hits of the summer.

"For our next live-action project, we knew we wanted to work with either a panda or Jack. Luckily, Endeavor repped Jack," Aibel said. "We also figured that if we could write for Jack as a panda, we could write for him as a human."
