Wells to helm 'Company Men'; Affleck in talks to star (THR)

By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte

John Wells is set to direct "The Company Men" with Ben Affleck in talks to star. Fittingly for the current climate, the drama is about a man whose life is upended by a financial downsizing. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Wells will produce and is writing the screenplay.

The story follows a man who is laid off and trying to cope with the financial consequences and the fallout at home. A second male lead will be added.

"Company" initially had been set up at Warner Bros. but is now in turnaround there; it has not yet been set up elsewhere.

The project would mark the feature directorial debut for the prolific writer-producer. Wells has previously directed episodes of TV shows such as "ER."
