As reported yesterday, Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer has nabbed the female lead opposite Tom Hanks in "Da Vinci Code" prequel "Angels & Demons." Today, reports say that Ewan McGregor is in talks to join the thriller and would take on the role of a powerful Vatican insider who assists Hanks’ Robert Langdon.
The “Angels & Demons” story centers on religious art scholar Langdon, who once again finds himself entangled with powerful forces with ancient roots: the Illuminati and the Catholic Church, Variety explains.
Zurer will play Vittoria Vetra, an Italian scientist who joins forces with Langdon.
McGregor will play Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, also known as Janus, the late pope's closest aide.
Ron Howard is directing from an Akiva Goldsman script.
Shooting it set to begin in June in Europe before heading to Los Angeles, notes The Hollywood Reporter.
Zurer, who is best known in her native Israel, has appeared in US films including "Munich" and "Vantage Point."
